School Show - Rec to Yr 6 (Local Preschool Welcome)

Sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing will be investigated, but there are so many more amazing human senses!

But the way you will learn is the fun bit. Graeme has gathered his favourite props, tricks and gadgets that will demonstrate exactly how we use our senses. He will use his very "zappy" Van de Graaff generator to explain how our senses send electrical messages to our brain, and his rapid fire ball cannon to explore how vision and proprioception work together when we try to catch a ball.
And there are many many more "catchy" demonstrations!
A comedic exploration of the human senses with electrifying science, incredible illusions, circus tricks, giant bubbles and all sorts of quirky gadgets that will spark
a sense of wonder and tickle your sense of humour!

Graeme will also explore the science behind your sense of
balance (equilibrioception), sense of position in space (proprioception), sense of rhythm and pitch, sense
of pain (nociception), interoception (eg. hunger) and even your sense
of humour!

Color change chemicals will help explain the senses of smell and taste, since they both work by 'sensing' chemical reactions.
The science of light and sound will be covered in detail as they relate
to sight and hearing, including the difference between light waves and sound waves and how light can be split into the colour spectrum (using a giant bubble), and of course how we can see those colours.
And quirky instruments and audio effects will be used to help develop children's understanding of music and how they perceive it. This includes the amazing "Theramin"
- the instrument you can play without even touching it!

And Graeme will also perform his hilarious physical comedy routine to investigate his favourite sense!
You guessed it!
The "Sense of Humour."
While this show is all about how incredible your senses are, Graeme will also show how easily your senses can be fooled!
He will just need a willing volunteer from the audience so he can perform his amazing "Floating Child" illusion.

There will also be opportunities to discuss other scientific concepts involved in Graeme's tricks and gadgets including static electricity, electrical charges, magnetism, gravity, friction, forces of attraction and repulsion, friction and the science of movement.

Graeme would love to bring his "Sensational Science" show to your school in 2026. Bookings are now open!
All learning is linked to the Australian Science Curriculum (Links available upon request).
